Mark Wood is gunning for wickets :
Durham’s right-arm fast bowler Mark Wood is ready to take on wicket-keeping ahead of the T20Is against South Africa. In the recently completed Test series, against South Africa, he managed to pick up 12 wickets.
While he was rested for the ODI series, (also versus South Africa), Wood’s role in the upcoming T20Is on February 12th in East London seems to be stronger than ever. In a batter’s game, he expressed that, he wishes to bowl well, in pace and get as many wickets as possible.
Additionally, revealing that Moggie or Eoin Morgan had asked him to take on the wicket-taking role, he also aspires to continue to do the same. He also thought highly of veteran pacer Dale Steyn and even wanted to continue measuring up to Moggie’s expectations.
Regarded as one of the best fast bowlers of all time, Steyn last played in March 2019 against Sri Lanka.
Now, Dale’s comeback has stirred up many of the fast bowlers who thought that with the abundance in spinners and batters, having a sizeable number of fast bowlers should do them good.
As for Mark Wood, he has played against Dale Steyn before and seems like he would like to get an eyeful of the experience once again. Yet, he still felt that South Africa is a difficult team to beat especially considering their home ground and therefore, England has to put in their best efforts to achieve their goal.
