Mohammad Shami was at his sensational best in the recently concluded Test against Bangladesh. Mohammad Shami stellar spell was a big part of India sealing the victory over their neighbor with the margin of an innings and 130 runs. This saw him breaking into the top 10 of ICC Test Rankings with 790 points to his name. This puts him at number 7 among the bowlers in the list and he has the highest number of points for any Indian pacer after the great Kapil Dev (877) and JaspritBumrah (832). Mayank Agarwal who scored a sublime double ton in Indore was placed at 11th among rankings for batsmen in Test cricket.
On the other hand, Mohammad Shami’s partner in the pace department, Ishant Sharma moved into the top 20s while Ravichandran Ashwin maintained his position within the top 5. He is ranked 4th among all-rounders in Test cricket. For Bangladesh, only Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das made any gains among batsmen, while Abu Jayed’s career-best four-wicket haul saw him move upwards.
Having registered the comprehensive victory over Bangladesh, India continue their stronghold at the apex of the World Test Championship with 300 points and are yet to drop points. Sri Lanka and New Zealand are second on the table with 60 points each, followed by Australia and England at 56 apiece.
