Bangladesh will miss the services of their fast-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin who will miss the T20I series against India due to injury. The recovery period for Saifuddin to recover from the lower back injury hasn’t been sufficient enough and according to medical experts, recovery is expected to take more time.
“Due to a recurring back injury, Shaif (Mohammad Saifuddin) will be rested from the India tour this year allowing him to consolidate his recovery over a longer period.” said the Bangladesh team’s physio, Julian Calefato on Thursday (October 24). “He will now also have the opportunity to spend more time strengthening his body and his situation will be reviewed by the medical team again in the upcoming weeks for further updates.”
He was initially a part of the 15-member squad for the series, but the team management had to look for other alternatives when his medical reports surfaced suggesting he needs more time for recovery. He was also picked for the recently-concluded T20I tri-series that involved Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, only for the injury to resurface.
Bangladesh is set to tour India between November 3 and 26, 2019 for 3 T20Is and two Test matches.
