In the inaugural edition of the (International Cricket Council) ICC World Test Championship, Virat Kohli-led India are the early leaders, considering the team secured its biggest win on overseas soil. Securing a massive 318-runs’ victory, in the opening test against West Indies, they are now in the top spot as they won the match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Sunday.
On Day Four of the opening match, the West Indies batsmen failed to counter pacer Jasprit Bumrah, as they chased a tough target of 419 runs to win. Bumrah’s performance was more than just commendable. In his eight-over spell, he managed to give away just 7 runs and claimed 5 wickets. He is considered as the fastest bowler to take 50 test wickets. Other than his performance, Mohammed Shami took two wickets and Ishant Sharma took three thus helping team India sail into a 1-0 lead. In the World Test Championships, India takes the numero-uno spot, with a total of 60 points after just one match. Sri Lanka stands next to India despite their 60-points tally due to the ratio of runs scored per wicket. Australia is placed in the third position with one win from three matches. The team is busy with a five-match Ashes series against England, currently.
