Date and Time: 23rd March 2019 (Saturday) @ 08:00 PM (IST)
Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium (The Chepauk)
Chennai Super Kings
Probable Playing XI:
Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Sam Billings, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, David Willey/Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Mohit Sharma/Shardul Thakur
It is fairly the same team from the last year. Their main strength is with the bat evident from the position of Chahar at 10th. The likes of Watson, Raina, and Dhoni with great experience and the availability of ample bowling options adds to their caliber.
With the South Africans not available for the first match certainly will affect CSK mainly in the bowling unit. Also, many of their mainstays are in the dusk of their career would cause the team fielding and fitness a great effect.
Player to watch out for: Suresh Raina
With his international career under great threat, Raina is in need of a good IPL outing that he usually gets throughout the previous 11 seasons. With his part-time spin, he could fill in some overs when needed.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Probable Playing XI:
Parthiv Patel/Heinrich Klaasen(WK), Virat Kohli(C), AB de Villers, Shimron Hetmyer, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini/Prayas Ray Barman/Tim Southee
The power they possess at the top with the likes of Kohli, de Villers, and Hetmyer is an obvious threat to any opposition. With Chahal, Sundar and possibly Ali in the mix on a spin-friendly track will be handy.
With the Aussies and the Kiwis (possibly) not available for the first few matches, their overseas resource is limited to four and the pressure of many players to debut in IPL may affect them for few matches.
Player to watch out for: Virat Kohli
There isn’t a batsman currently to match his run scoring and with the Chepauk, we could a great run fest from the Skipper of Indian team having to open for the Challengers.
The Chepauk is a batsmen delight with spinners getting some purchase too and with the temperature is expected to be in the high 20s. The last time an IPL game was hosted in Chennai was last year. During it, the Home team hunted down a massive total of 202 set by the KKR.
