With remaining 102 balls, INDIA BEATS NEW ZEALAND Women, 1st ODI, ICC Women’s Championship at Napier, today (Jan 24th, 2019)
Giving an equal balance to the Indian cricket Men squad of an 8-wicket win against Kane Williamson and team, the tour of New Zealand by Indian women’s cricket team came up with the Victory of 9 wickets. It was the first task of the Indian women’s team under the new coach WV Raman, who recently replaced Ramesh Powar as the head coach.
Smriti Mandhana and teen Jemimah Rodrigues hammered the clueless bowling attack in New Zealand to lead India to an emphatic 9 wicket triumph in the opening ODI of a three-match series in Napier today. The 22-year-old Mandhana (105) and the 18-year-old Rodrigues (81 not out) gathered a masterclass after the bowlers had done the job for India by bundling New Zealand for a 192-year class.

Competing in their first series after the controversies that arise during the team’s T20 World Cup exit in the semi-finals last year, they produced a thoroughly clinical performance to eke out the comfortable victory in 33 overs. While Mandhana, fresh from winning the ICC Women’s Cricket Award of the Year, slammed her fourth ODI century and extended her fantastic run in the 50-over format by recording her ninth fifty-plus score in 13 innings since January 2018, Rodrigues marked her first half-century in international format. Mandhana added 190runs–the third best partnership against New Zealand for every wicket. Amelia Kerr finally dismissed Mandhana, but this did little to prevent India from achieving its emphatic victory.
