On Tuesday, the Indian woman cricketer and ODI captain Mithali lashed out at Committee of Administrators’ (CoA) member Diana Edulji and coach Ramesh Powar to finally reveal her facet of the story within the whole debacle that saw the senior professional being crashed from the team for the all-important semi-final match against England, recently completed World T20 in West Indies
Mithali who had scored a duo of half-centuries in the tournament went on writing a scathing letter sent to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and General Manager of cricket operations Mr. Saba Karim, saying that many folks in power were trying to destroy her which also pointed Diana Edulji — former woman cricket player broke her trust by being a part of CoA.
In the note, Mithali Raj accused at SC-appointed administrator Diana Edulji for her bias and the Women’s cricket team coach Ramesh Powar for humiliating her and deliberately kept her off the team.
To Mithali things went bad to worse stating “I would also like to point out that I have nil against the T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur except for the fact that her call to support the decision of the coach to leave me out of the eleven was baffling and hurtful. I wanted to win the world cup for my country and it hurts me because we lost a golden opportunity.”
The team coach’s behavior was weird causing stress to Mithali when landed in the West Indies as he showed signs of discrimination and unfair rule. It appears that the previous meeting of Australia match had hurt his ego. She was also asked not to show up at the ground during the game against Australia.
She concludes the noted saying, ‘I couldn’t control my tears having given it my all 20 years. It seems my efforts were of no value as the power of a few people destroys me and my confidence.’
PS: Today, Powar is expected to meet Johri and Karim.
