Today, the second T20I match between Australia and India took place at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. When the match was about to stop the toss was delayed due to rain which then ceased later on and the play was started on time. India won the toss and chose to bowl. But when the match was nearing the end of first innings it started to rain heavily during the 19th over and the players were forced to leave the field.
There was a certain time when the rain was about to stop and India would be allowed to bat 19 overs and chase down a target of 137. But as the rain continued, the overs were reduced to 11 and the target was set to 90. However, due to persistent rainfall, the match was abandoned at last.
The seven straight T20I series win of India has come to a halt due to this abandonment. The best scenario now for India is to draw the series by winning the next final game in Sydney held this Sunday. The Indian team for this match remained unchanged while Australia has replaced the injured Billy Stanlake with Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled his wonderful spell and took Aaron Finch’s wicket in the second ball of the first over. The hosts managed to score 132 with a fall of 7 wickets in 19 overs.
