India won the toss and chose to field first. Initially, it sounded to be a good decision as the Indian bowlers were able to reduce Pakistan to 30/2 in six overs with great bowling and fielding. However, Pakistan posed a fine middle order batting and build momentum when the Indian team dropped four catches later on.
Nida Dar (52) got her first fifty in T20Is and Bismah Mahroof (53) got her highest score for Pakistan against India combined for a fourth-wicket partnership of 94/71. It was also Pakistan’s best partnership so far against India. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain as 10 penalty runs were awarded to India due to the running of Pakistan batters in the pitch even after an official warning from the umpire.
Pakistan bowlers were unable to keep the Indian top order batters Mithali Raj (56) and Smriti Mandhana (26) who dominated in a 73-run partnership. Mithali became the third batter to score 500 T20I runs with her 15th T20I fifty in this match. Finally, India won the match against Pakistan by 7 wickets in the first ball of the last over with a boundary.
The next match for the Indian team is against Ireland which is to be held on 15 November.
