Virat Kohli criticized ECB over proposed experiments

Earlier this year during the month of April, England Cricket Board (ECB) proposed a new 100-ball format of cricket competition. The famous Indian skipper and team captain Virat Kohli said he is “hurt” by the industrial aspects of cricket taking over the “real quality” of the game.

The concept of the 100-ball format is 20 balls lesser than that of traditional T20 cricket matches. Initially, it was proposed to be two eight-team tournaments for Men’s and Women’s team which consists of 15 traditional overs with six-ball each and a final over of 10-ball. This new format of cricket is 20-ball less to conventional T20 matches which the shortest form of cricket in existence.

Kohli said he likes to play in the T20 leagues, but not open for testing with the new format. He further asked all the national cricket boards to give more importance to First Class cricket, to prevent people from losing their motivation to play the longest format of the game. Kohli seems to be more focused on playing the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship. He said that it is going to give a huge push to the Test cricket. He also expects the Championship series is going to be more competitive with several ups and downs throughout the Championship.
