India vs England 1st Test: Ashwin looking for his first Five Wicket Haul in England

The India tour to England 2018 consisting of a 5 match test series began on Wednesday, August 01, 2018 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. England won the toss and opted to bat. The first day of the play came to close with England scored 285/9. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were scoring for England since they partnered up after 112/3. Their partnership shared a score of 104 runs off 128 balls until when Root was made run out by Virat Kohli’s brilliance.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who manages to pick only three wickets in the two matches against England when they last toured in 2014. But after four years Ashwin is back in with a star performance of four-wicket haul on the first day of the five-match test series against England. As a result of his outstanding performance, England collapsed from 216 for 3 to end their day with 285 for 9.

Ashwin (4 for 60) got his best figures bagging 4 wickets while Mohammed Shami (2 for 64) picked up two wickets. Also, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav picked up one wicket each. It is much expected that Ashwin will go for his five-wicket haul against England in the 2nd day of the Test.
