Mandhana Equals the Record for Fastest Women’s T20 Half-century of All Time

The Women’s Cricket Super League 2018 is taking place in England. In the yesterday’s match between the Western Storm vs Loughborough Lightning, India’s Smriti Mandhana smashed the fastest fifty in just 18 balls.

Smriti Mandhana is the first Indian to play in the KIA Super League (England’s flagship T20 tournament for women). She played for the Western Storm team in this T20 tournament and scored 52 off 19 balls, not out at the end of the innings.

The match was actually reduced to 6 overs due to rain. Even in such limited overs to spare, the opener Mandhana smashed 5 fours and 4 sixes in her innings. She got her half-century with a Six and now holds the record for the fastest 50 along with Sophie Devine of New Zealand.

With the help of Mandhana’s 52 the Western Storm ended their innings with 85 runs for 2 wickets. The Loughborough Lightning tried their best to chase this target, but they ended up scoring 67 runs without losing any wickets at the end of their innings. Thus Western Storm won against Loughborough Lightning by 18 runs.
