The young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been named in the 18-man India squad for the first three tests against England. This was his maiden call for a test match, and he will be featuring as the specialist wicketkeeper-batsman alongside Dinesh Karthik who played the last test against Afghanistan.
The Indian pacer Mohammad Shami who was dropped from the Afghanistan Test after failing the fitness exam has made an expected comeback to side. However, the call to the inclusion of Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be taken after the BCCI medical team examines him. He has aggravated a lower back injury during the third ODI against England in Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah is still recovering from his broken thumb injury, will be available for selection from the second Test subject to fitness. The first Test between India and England starts in Birmingham on August 1.
