Former England wicketkeeper Steve Rhodes will be arriving in Bangladesh later this week to attend the interview for the post of head coach. It has been confirmed by the BCB chief Nizamuddin Chowdhury that Steve Rhodes is in the shortlist as a head coach and will be hoping to meet us in Dhaka in a couple of days.
Also, this will end their search for a new coach which almost lasted for eight months ever since Chandika Hathurusingha’s stepped down in October 2017. The BCB seems to have already approached several other experienced coaches, but they couldn’t make it because of several reasons. Steve Rhodes is the well-experienced one currently among the available coaches and he is BCB’s first choice.
Rhodes was relieved of his duties as head coach of the England Under-19 squad just before the World Cup, after his failure to report the arrest of a young all-rounder Alex Hepburn in time. Chowdhury said without mentioning any name that the new coach will be joining the Bangladesh team during the training camp for the West Indies tour later this month.
