In the last match before the semi-final with the Australian women’s team, the Indian women restricted Australia to 119/9 and won the match by 48 runs. With this perfect victory, they have become the table toppers of Group B with 8 points and Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.827.
Initially, India won the toss and decided to bat first. Smriti Mandhana scored a whopping 83(55) that included 9 sixes and 3 fours. Indian women’s team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur also scored a 43(27) that included 3 sixes and 3 fours. Both of their scores aided India to contribute a total of 167-8(20).
In the second innings, Anuja Patil took 3/15 for India and Australian women were able to score only 119/9. Even though Mithali Raj was put to rest for this match, the team were able to handle the match on their own with the motivation that came from their captain and teammates.
This dominating win by the Indian women over Australian women made the former Indian women’s skipper Anjum Chopra to deliver her positives for the team ahead of their semi-final match on Nov 23. India will be playing against England in the second semi-final in Antigua.
